ABSTRACT. The Scientific Archive of the Federal Research Centre “Komi Science Centre of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences” contain a number of unpublished manuscripts by L. P. Lashuk devoted to the ethnographic zoning of the Komi ASSR, which was initiated in the early 1950s as a major research area in the study of the ethnic history of the Komi. These early texts by L. P. Lashuk, unpublished for various reasons, are of undoubted interest not only for the history of Komi ethnography but also for contemporary researchers, as here was implemented, for the first time, an integrated approach to the study of archival, archaeological, and ethnographic field materials. This publication presents a previously unpublished text by L. P. Lashuk, which demonstrates an analytical approach to describing the history of formation, characteristic features, and criteria for identifying of the Sysola Komi “historical-ethnographic group”, based on generalized vast archive and field materials collected by the author during his expeditions to the Sysola River in the second half of the 1950s.
