ABSTRACT. Unlike most publications on problems related to ethnocultural neotraditionalism, this article focuses not on the descriptive aspects of its analysis but on the theoretical and methodological issues, combining epistemological and ontological approaches. Based on the systemic, activity, and socio-cultural approaches, the author substantiates the reflexive-integrative concept (theoretical model) of ethnocultural neotraditionalism. Against the backdrop of constructivist methodology prevailing in literature, the author defends the understanding of ethnocultural neotraditionalism as a spiritual and practical phenomenon – the actual qualitative state of traditional ethnic culture in modern conditions, the product of interaction and interpenetration (reflection) of the internal and external conditions for the development of ethnic cultures in a synchronous-diachronous (spatio-temporal) dimension. The article views ethnic communities as carriers of ethnic cultures: distinct but heterogeneous formations with a peculiar network organizational structure. The author substantiates the thesis that an adequate understanding of the processes taking place in modern ethnic culture is possible only by integrating the proposed theoretical model with other heuristically significant tools of cognition. The latter include outside and inside-oriented approaches, methodological guidelines proposed in the anthropology/ethnography of movement, the interaction of local and mainstream cultures, “new ethnography”, cyberethnography, etc. (A. V. Golovnev and others).
