ABSTRACT. The article examines the manifestations of network effects, and cyberspeed in particular, in the life of the indigenous population of the Taimyr. Internet communication occupies a dominant place in the general communication network of the local population. In Taimyr, this innovation has not only found a place in the old pattern of relations, but also acquired the scope of a stormy element (moreover, the cyber sphere of Taimyr immediately began to develop using the most modern network technologies such as WhatsApp, bypassing the earlier, less socially mobile ones). New methods and forms of information transmission have appeared, and the speed of its dissemination has become incomparably higher. Due to these changes, some social institutions have been transformed. Cyberspeed has become much higher than the speed of the older everyday communication. A striking example of the speed of information dissemination was the case of the oil spill at CHPP-3 near Norilsk. Most residents of the Taimyr learned about the spill from the Internet almost in the first hours. This effect, as well as constant monitoring of what is happening, influenced the speed of decision making and its quality. If earlier the officials, heads of the city, region, and country, were the first to learn about such large-scale incidents, this time the first ones were Internet users. Photos and videos from the scene of the events “went viral” so much that the top officials of the state learned about the accident also from the Internet. The rate of fire of the chats not only turns on and intensifies emotions, but also helps in solving urgent problems of the local population of the Taimyr.
