ABSTRACT. The article discusses the academic cooperation between two orientalists of Polish origin, Eduard Karlovich Pekarsky and Vladislav Ludvigovich Kotvich between 1913 and 1934. Kotvich became a guide who discovered Pekarsky for Polish Oriental Studies. Thanks to the publications of Pekarsky in the Oriental Studies Yearbook, the scholar presented himself not only as a philologist, but also as a folklorist. The epistolary heritage of the two orientalists is housed in the Department of Manuscripts of the Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as in the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow. Also letters from Kotwicz to Pekarsky are found in his personal archive in the St. Petersburg Branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The example of cooperation between the two scholars, representatives of different generations, should undoubtedly become a part of the as yet not created academic biography of the great orientalist Pekarsky.
