АННОТАЦИЯ. Уважение старших и оказание помощи соплеменникам являются краеугольным камнем, фиксирующим социальные связи в вертикальном и горизонтальном направлении в традиционных обществах Африки. Геронтократия, наличие возрастных классов, главенство старшего мужчины в расширенной семье создают благоприятные условия для формирования установок на уважение к старшим. Установки на соблюдение моральных норм и культурных правил формируются в процессе социализации, однако могут варьировать в зависимости от индивидуальных предрасположенностей у представителей одной и той же культуры. Существенный вклад могут вносить индивидуальные личностные характеристики. Цель исследования — оценить связь между личностными профилями, включая пятифакторную модель личности и эмоциональную эмпатию, и установками на уважение старших, оказание помощи соплеменникам у представителей трех традиционных африканских обществ: хадза, масаи, хая. Исследования проводили в марте и августе 2022 г. в Танзании. Выраженные различия в типах ведения хозяйства, особенности семейного уклада, по всей видимости, оказывали влияние на проявление всего спектра личностных качеств. Половые различия по чертам личности и эмоциональной эмпатии у хадза и хая не были выражены, тогда как мужчины-масаи оказались более экстравертны, по сравнению с женщинами, и демонстрировали более выраженную установку на уважение старших. Вариабельность оценок по чертам личности в исследованных группах определяла вариативность в оказании помощи и уровне эмпатии респондентов в отношении старших, престарелых родственников и избирательности в оказании поддержки членам своей этнической группы.
